Text 911

1. You can text 911

2. 911 text messaging service coming in 2014

3. CNN

4. The following article is about a very interesting invention that is being created. This creation will allow people to text 911, in case of an emergency! This invention shall be up by 2014.

5. I honestly think that this is rather interesting! Most Likely this will be a very beneficial invention, though, I also believe that upon it’s release it will backfire. Let’s just hope Microsoft, and apple are not responsible for the distribution... or else this invention’s meaning will become useless. Now, this event affects me, because if some killer were to come into my house, I would just text 911, and not have to call. That.. would be amazing.

6. This event impacts the world, because people everywhere will not have to take a risky call with 911.  People would usually have to call 911, and that would reveal their location to killers, or burglars. Think about it! With this invention, lives could be saved and criminals easily captured. So, therefore that is how this invention impacts the world.

Samsung Galaxy top phone

1.IPhone sales drop

2. Samsung Galaxy S III dethrones iPhone as world's top seller

3.CNN

4. This article is about the new 'IPhone killer' This phone the Samsung Galaxy, has topped the sales of the IPhone. Also in this article, they speak of how this phone will continue to grow. Android will over power apple.

5. I find this article interesting, because I myself have an IPhone 4. Now, that Android has come out with such a phone, that it tops the selling of the IPhone. It means that apple will most likely have to decrease their prices. Lower prices on the new phones, mean myself can get a newer model since Apple will worry that the IPhone may become so unpopular. That's why I believe that this could be beneficial to those who would like and  IPhone but cannot afford it.

6. This event impacts the world for one main, and huge reason. Apple is one of the top electronic companies in the world. Their phone, the IPhone is one of their most popular products, now that it has been outdone all people who invest in the Apple stock share, as well as work for the companies will most likely have to get a pay reduction to makeup for lost sales. So, that proves that unless Apple can come up with an amazing new product, which is highly unlikely since the IPhone5 recently came out, the sales will continue to plummet... and Android will take over. Making new phones that are similar to the Galaxy. Which means, Apple will soon become bankrupt or something of that nature.

Scemes and Scams

This week in introduction to publication, we went farther into a familiar aspect. Scamming. Yes, we have already gone over this once, but we learned a lot of new things. Some of these are terms.
The words are as follow.

Scam- An attempt to trick someone, usually with the intention of stealing money or private information.
Scam, it's quite a simple concept. So, it's Swindling, or tricking. These happen all the time.

Photo of car whose license plate was stolen, taken by myself. I own all rights to the photo. Photo was taken using an IPhone4.

Identity theft- A type of crime in which your private information is stolen and used for criminal activity.
Examples of this would be the stealing of Social Security numbers, bank account information, your license, your license plate on the car.

Vulnerable- in a position that makes it easier for you to be harmed or attacked.
So, this means that you're an easy target.

Phishing- When people send you phony emails, pop-up messages , social media messages, texts, calls, or links to fake websites in order to hook you into giving out your personal and financial information.
Those who phish, are the telemarketers of the internet. Evil little trolls they are.

Some things to look out for when sorting through your email inbox, which I can guess that you don't do often.

Those little trolls that phish, will look for the following information.

  • Social Security number
  • Bank Account Information
  • Your Email
  • Mother's Maiden name
  • Credit Card information
  • Your full name
  • Date of Birth
  • Place of Birth
  • License
  • Passport number
  • Account numbers
If you end up falling for one of these tricks, you may end up in jail. Which, I'm sure is not a fun place to be, Just saying.

Some amazing tips to help prevent you from opening these scam mails. Just opening them can result in you contracting a virus :O !!!!!

  • Avoid opening the message or mail in the first place.
C'mon people, this here is just plain ol' common sense.
  •  Don't click on any links or download any attachments; They might contain viruses, or spy ware.
You're all to blame if you're dumb enough to do this, I mean seriously! When someone sends you a picture on a website or on social media. What is the thing that they always say? 'Don't open files or download media from people you don't know.' They don't say that just to say it.
  • Don't reply
Now, some of you might not have known this. If you reply to the message or mail. It proves to them that you are an active users.
  • Mark junk mail or Spam  for email provider, or report to your social network site.
Reporting, hello. It was invented for a reason! Use it!

  • If you're concerned about an account you have with a company contact them.
This is about the whole false credit card emails, or bank emails. They tell you straight up. 'We will not ask for your personal information.'
Negative aspects for this? I have no idea, because they are tips to help you from being scammed. So, no negatives.

There are many positives though.  This helps you, yeah. I bet if you never knew about one of these things... Odds are I'm correct.

Now, this will greatly influence my actions online because these are tips. Yep, tips help not harm. Simple logic. Unless they say 'tips on how to screw up' or something like that. They help you.

I now know what to do when I encounter spam mail.

In conclusion, my week has been well. Except for a few problems with clothing myself. Yes, clothing myself. Believe it or not, I have worn a shirt upside down this week, and backwards. I can't tell you how proud I am of those facts! Well, let's just say I'm a little special.

first week in lsb

With the beginning of the week, it marked our final week following plan B at Gaston Early College High School. The week conisited of many events, those consisting of our weekly current event, a new web 2.0, and a new digital literacy component.

We also took notets, and with the new week came a new set of terms:

Track, target, demographic, and cookies.

To make things clear. Yes, we have had target as one of words before, but in this case it is different.

Track: When companies collect information about you based on your
online behavior.
Target:When companies tailor content to you based on the information they have collected about you.
Demographic: Common categories of the population, such as age, gender, and race.
Cookies: Data files that are stored on your computer when you visit certain sites, which are often used by companies to identify repeat customers and personalize visitors’ experiences

Knowing these words, we as a class watched several videos about how people track our information.
After watching them, we went out and discovered a new web 2.0 tool. That tool is, to put it simply a digital scrap book.

 My Mixbook project is below.

Mixbook - Create Beautiful Photo Books and Scrapbooks! | Start your own Photo Books | Create custom Christmas Cards

There are many great things about this tool, there is the fact that it is very interactive. You can take picture off of your social media sites, and take all of your things and incorporate them into this scrapbook. One of the best things about this though, is the fact that after you are finished with it. You can order it!

I myself believe that, that is pretty amazing.

As far as cons go, there is nothing really wrong with Mixbook in my opinion, but there could be some improvements so to speak.

With sizes and such, there are to many limitations. I think it would be a wonderful idea to make it even more personal. Other than that, there is no need for improvement.

Now, our digital literacy componant this week was not online, but we took notes for it instead.

The main focus of our component was what are the benefits and the risks of search engines limiting your opitions when you search.

The Benefits are:

ADS- less clutter, comapanies target those who are interested

SEARCH- personalized, saves time.

_________________________________________________

Risks-
ADS- viruses, spyware, malware, hackers, and less choices.
SEARCH- multiple users, and limited.

As far as praise goes, these are very helpful tips, and they could help those who are not technology savy.

Negatives, there arn't any. These are tips, something that are designed to help you... not harm you.

Now knowing these things, I will be able to increase my chance of being safe online. I also know in what ways I can prevent my computer from recieveing viruses. Overall, my week has been great! We even moved into our new school building which I was really excited for. Now the teachers arn't going to walk us to class, and the fact that we don't have to walk outside is another plus to being in our building.

Halo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. Halo 4

2.Web series builds anticipation for 'Halo 4'

3. CNN

4. This article is about how the new Halo game has been released.  Other aspects in this article that are covered are: What’s new, and what happens in this game. Also what differences there are.

5. I am personally very excited! I’ve been waiting for this to come out, and now that I know what changes are being made... I’m even more stoked! The fact that they are making this interactive game into a linear game, makes me wonder how it’s going to work. Now, this event affects me because I’m a hardcore gamer. Halo has always been one of my favorites. I also thought, that after reach, they were not going to make any more Halo games, so I’m going to have to get it!

6. This event impacts the world in multiple ways. Just like many videogames Halo is increasingly popular. After the release of Reach, it has attracted many fans. Also, the fact that the game was shot as a movie, will probably make it even more popular. Even Feldman had things to say about the game
"For the hardcore fans that have played the games, read the books, read the comics, have the consumer products, and are fully intending to dive into 'Halo 4,' this is very much an additive experience,"  (Feldmen)  This statement of his, goes to show how popular the game is. Another way to tell how the event impacts the world, is the fact that video games are an universal experience.

Need for Speed

1. Need for Speed most wanted

2.Need for Speed: Most Wanted Vita developed by Criterion, includes extra content

3. Shacknews

4. This need for speed game, is a new installment for the well known games. Unlike the other games that this game was played on, this one is for the Playstation Vita, and Playstation 3. One thing that makes this game different opposed to its handheld counterparts. Is the fact that in this version of the game, there are additional features that were not in the original games. This game released yesterday October 30th 2012.

5.With this, I am excited that this game is coming out! I own a lot of the need for speed games, and this just is amazing to put it lightly. The release of this game affects me, because I’ve played these games since Need for speed:Underground came out back in 2004. Also, now that today is halloween all of the gamers will be either A:Taking children trick-or-treating, B: Handing out candy. The odds that they will be in line, are less than what might have happened. The line, will also be shorter since the game is not as popular as Madden, Legend of Zelda, or Pokemon. So, now knowing this, I will be able to quickly get the game.

6.This event impacts the world, because Need for speed is a very popular game. The fact that it just came out, will cause stores worldwide to sell out and gain a major profit. Also, gamers since the game came out the day before halloween. October 30th, Gamers would know to go ahead and either A: Preorder the game, B: Go get the game, regardless of it being halloween. With them now knowing this, those who are unaware will not be in line waiting for the game, and those who are aware will be able to get the game in half the time it would’ve taken. Therefore, this is how the event impacts the world.

Week before halloween

With the beginning of the week in Introduction to Publication we have done a variety of things.
Starting with a change in schedule.

The change being, we completed yet another section of the infamous Digital Drivers License. Unlike the others, this one was stressing online safety and who a person is online.

Over all, this week's digital literacy component was alright, though there is the fact that I believe a large portion of the questions were opinionated.

Which confused me greatly, other than that minor problem. I had no difficulties what-so-ever.

With the videos this section had, I was able to learn things about safety and who I am online.

Since I my self play MMORPGs, and RPGS.

On there, as a normal safety precaution I never have my avatar share characteristics with myself.
For example, My avatar on DeviantArt is the same as my Google avatar.
The differences between my true appearance will be listed:

Photo belongs to myself. created at: Faceyourmanga

  • I do not have elven features, such as the ears.
  • My hair is not cropped, it is almost waist-length
  • My eyes are not blue
  • I do not have a tattoo on my face, nor anywhere on my body.
As the week continued on, we had watched a film and discussed more about avatars.

To help us learn about them, we copied down some definitions:

  • Avatar- Image or graphic that represents you online.
  • Persona- Image  or personality that you portray to others.
  • Anonymous- Hidden identity.
  • Inhibited- Being careful or restrained about your actions or impulse.
  • Represent- How you present yourself to others.
Knowing these terms, we viewed multiple photos of people and their avatars.
We listed multiple differences and why we think they changed their appearance, and made themselves look differently online.

We then, took the new knowledge and applied it in our web2.0 tool this week. Which was Glogster!
My glog is below.

On the glog, we were told to give 5 tips to staying real online, and keeping yourself out of trouble.

With Glogster, it is a fabulous tool! I absolutely love it!!!!!
I've used it since seventh grade, and I was shocked at how much it had improved! It is great for projects, and presentations.

There are really no flaws with this program from my point of view, it is super simple and fun to use!

Now, by knowing these things. I now will watch what I say online, because it could really screw my future up. For many reasons, but with knowing this I might still make my avatar look different from my true appearance, for safety reasons.

Overall, My week was wonderful and I enjoyed learning about these things, since they were quite interesting!

current event

1. Call of duty free?

2.Call of duty elite to be free for Black Ops 2.

3.Theguardian

4. The hit video game series, for Xbox and other gaming consoles’ online version is said to become free! Being released last year, this game has become increasingly popular. Now, with it becoming free, as of at least November 13th, instead of charging for this addition asset, it will be free.

5. I consider this very interesting! I personally love the Call of Duty series, and since I have Black ops 2 pre ordered. I can get this for free! I mean, I’m saving a good bit of money, since I would’ve ended up paying the full price for this. This event affects me greatly, due to my love for Black ops. Now, I’m extremely happy.
6.This event impacts the world, by the fact that the Call of Duty game series, is very popular. Thousands of people pre-order the game around the world, and line up outside of stores to purchase the game. Now, that an installment of the game is becoming free, people will download it.
This game would’ve grossed thousands upon thousands. Now, that it has a free installment. Black Ops 2 is sure to gross even more.

Cyberbullying

During the time span of the last couple of weeks, we covered a huge topic in Introduction to Publication, that is Cyberbullying.

With this topic came terms and definitions: Target, Offender, By-stander, Up-stander, escalate, and de-escalate.

  • Target- A target to put it simply, is the victim, or the person being bullied.
  •  Offender- The bully; a person with malicious intent, that wants to cause harm. (Note, that they are evil, evil little trolls....)
  • By-stander- Is self- explanatory, it's a witness who does nothing.
They stand by and watch the victim and the bully.
  • Up-stander- A witness who actually does do something.
They stand UP for the victim.
  • Escalate- Not as in the 'moving stairs' in department stores (that is an escalator), but it means to increase, or intensify.
So, to escalate means to go up.
  • De-escalate- means to go down, or decrease.

With these terms we came up with ways a target, and up-stander can de-escalate the bullying.

Angry Birds meets Star Wars

1. Angry Birds Meets Star Wars

2. Angry Birds Star Wars Coming Next Month

3. CNN

4. This article tells of a new installment to the major smartphone app Angry birds. This new app is suppost to be on iTunes by next month, and the merchandise should hit the shelves by October 28th. This app will also be the 5th major installment of the app.

5. I honestly don’t care. I have attempted to play the original angry birds on my friends Ipod touch, but I failed. So, this event does not effect me in anyway what so ever.

I do have a smart device, but this game frustrated me that badly..... I absolutely cannot stand the game, therefore it proves my point.

6. This event impacts the world, because even though I dislike the game greatly. I have many friends who love the game. There is also the fact that people all around the world have smart devices, and most likely have purchased an app. There is also the factor that angry birds itself is one of the most purchased apps on iTunes. Therefore, this event impacts the world.

Self-Disclosure and Internet Health

With the month of September coming to an end, and October just beginning. In Introduction to Publication we have covered a variety of topics over the course of the week.  One of them being, the dangers of the internet.

Starting off class at the beginning of the week, we were told to copy down some terms, and define them.

Self-Disclosure, Reciprocate, and Sexting.

  • Self-Disclosure- Sharing one's private, sensitive, and confidential information about themselves, to others.
Things that would be considered self-disclosure are: Your telephone number, address, age, height, general geographic location, Social Security number, (Though, I do hope all who read this are intelligent enough to know better than that.) bank account information, birth date, credit card information, and gender.

Are only a few things that fall under the topic.
photo of bank, available http://www.freefoto.com/preview/31-52-6/Bank, taken: May 14, 2002
  • Reciprocate- To give in, and return.

  • Sexting- Sending or receiving  sexually explicit photos or videos by text message, or any other digital device.

With that being said, there are ways to avoid sexting!

In the comic strip below made on the website Makebeliefscomix, you will see a way to avoid sexting.

In the strip above, Kit the girl who was asked to 'sext' her boyfriend. Instead of giving in to pressure, she used humor to get out of sending him the picture.  So Kit instead, emailed her boyfriend a photo of an alien.

There are other ways to avoid sexting and those are listed below.

  • Humor
  • Act innocent
  • Be creative and sly, (Kit used this technique along with Humor to avoid sexting)
  • Stress discomfort
  • Or you can just change the subject.
Introduction to Publication, another topic was covered.

That being building relationships online.

We had an in-class discussion.

During that discussion, we went over how people act differently online then off, how to build a relationship online, and more about the dangers of the internet.

Below, you will see yet another comic strip created by myself on Makebeliefscomix.
In this strip, Kit and her boyfriend shaggy are currently in a long-distance relationship and are only able to communicate through digital devices.

Kit, decided to use email to communicate with Shaggy, and that helped build their relationship.

Other than email, there are multiple ways to build online relationships.

Those are just a few ways to communicate online.

With this new Web2.0 tool that has been used, there are almost nothing negative that I can say about it. Other than the fact that I disliked how you can only use up to four panels at a time, and the low graphic resolution. Which should not surprise me, since the comic strip was made on a free online website.

On the bright side of things, this tool was entertaining. The comical characters were intriguing to me, especially how they showed their emotions.

With the remainder of the week that we had,  we used it going over a new aspect of Digital Driver's License.

The section of the website that we covered, had everything to do with the other things that we completed over the course of the week.

The main aspect of it was Internet Health.

Covering the dangers of sexting, texting while driving, and what can happen on various social networking sites.

It included a story of a young teenage girl, who took her own life because of sending a single nude photo of herself to an ex-boyfriend.

Which was saddening. It made me think about how people around me could be doing that, and the pain that those whose photos are made public endure.

With this information being known to me, I never really thought about sexting or the dangers of it. Now that I know, I will never even think about it if I'm asked to sext someone.
It's illegal, and if the photo is of a minor, and sent by one. It is considered child pornography.

There is also the 'what if' factor. For example: What if, the recipient forwarded the photo to someone else. That could cause a chain reaction, and before it is known an entire town may be aware of what has been done.

In class we ( The students around my seat ) had to come up with a solution to a conversation.

It began with a simple conversation between two teenagers: Jake, and Shaila.

Jake, had asked Shaila to sext him, and the remainder of the conversation we as a group had to come up with it.

Shaila:I don't think that would be a good idea.
Jake: Why not?
Shaila:Because I am smart enough not to do that.
Jake: :( I am breaking up with you.
Shaila: No wait...
Jake: Wait for what?
Shaila: Nothing, you are a jerk!
Jake: Fine then. Lets see what Photoshop can do.
Shaila: No! Know what? I am not some five dollar hoe. Do what you wish!
Jake: Okay, Fine then! :(

The conversation ends.

That concludes yet another summery of what has been accomplished in Ms.Payseur's Introduction to Publication's third class, and another wonderful week has been finished.

A.S.P.E.C.T

This week in Intro to  Publication, have began to explore new aspects of the internet. One of them being an incredibly useful tool: A.S.P.E.C.T

A.S.P.E.C.T- Is an acronym, in this case each letter tells about how you should examine a website, before using and trusting their information.
  • The "A" stands for: Authority.
Somethings to keep in mind about authority are: Who wrote and published, do they have experience, do you recognize the name,  what information can you find about the publisher.

Another good idea, would be searching for any sponsoring agency, viewing the URL code at the top of the page would also be the intelligent thing to do.

Those are some key things to keep in mind of when searching for a reliable source.

  • The "S" stands for: Sources.
Documentation, evidence to support statements, citations, footnotes, bibliography.
Are things to consider when searching for reliable information.

  • The "P" stands for: Purpose.
Perspective, entertain, sell, and a mission statement.
Are things to look.
  • The "E" stands for: Evenness.
Is the website presented objectively, is the information biased?
Those two things above, are key to great information.

  • The "C" stands for: Coverage.
Is it new, comprehensive, or relevant?
If the website you are viewing is not comprehensive, or relevant. You might not be viewing, a reliable source.
  • The "T" stands for:Timeliness.
Publish date, current information, and the reputation.

If you would like more in-depth information, view the presentation below.

Create your own mind maps at MindMeister

MindMeister, is a valuable source that can be used for many things.

The websites tool: mind maps, will allow you to create a visual that can show relationships, connections, and explain things that are apart of a specific topic.

In my opinion, it is quite simple. If you are a first time user for it, you may want to follow the tutorial present on the site it's self.

Other than that, there is nothing negative that I could say about this specific tool.

Being on the subject, there is another online tool that we used over the course of the week.

That being, the infamous Digital Driver's License.

Unlike the previous time that this component was used, we did not venture farther into cyber bullying and online etiquette. During this time of using it, we learned about Digital Media, and posting information online.

By that, we learned about how anyone with some form of internet access can post irrelevant information. Regardless of it being posted via webpage, blog, by social networking, or a online encyclopedia of some kind.

People can, and will post things that are not true as scams.

A famous person who had edited many pages on the source Wikipedia, that were untrue.
Is none other than Willy on Wheels. He is a classic case of what can be done by anyone on the internet. (Also, I am aware that I posted the link that will take you to the wiki-page, but I believe if there is a website that is aware of what "Willy" has done, it will be the website in which he had vandalized.)

Image of person spray-painting a wall, available at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/allchrome/5423888378/sizes/z/in/photostream/, image taken: February 21, 1979.

Other things covered under the section of Digital Driver's License, that we covered were: Were how to find out if a websites information is relevant or not.

In the mind map I posted above covers what you need to scan the website for.

With knowing this, I may have in the future absent mindlessly come across a scam website.

While on it, I may have fallen for a scam, but with my new found information I can be sure that I will not fall for one again, if I scan through the websites skeptically.

With that being said, this week in Introduction to Publication has been amazing, and informational!

Facebook Cheap?

1. Facebook cheap?

2.Facebook plunges 9% on $15 price call

3. CNN

4. This article is about, how Facebook stocks have gone up and down. It also is about how much more expensive a stock share is, compared to Facebook competitor. Also about how it may continue to fall.

5. I honestly do not care about Facebook’s stock issues. For one, I am fourteen years old, and really should not be investing.  Another thing, even if I could invest. I wouldn’t because it’s a waste of time. The only thing that would affect me, would be if for some reason they decide to completely shut down Facebook because of this.

6.This event impacts the world because stocks are pretty much universal, as far as I know. With stocks, and the popularity of Facebook. People think that it would be a great, and wonderful idea to invest in it, but now with the price going down. People are going to start to rethink their choice on Facebook, the stocks would proably plummet even more. Then, the entire cite may shut down. It’s unlikely that, that will happen though.

Weekly Review

Over the course of September's third week, we have done many things in Intro to Publication.

With the start of the week, we began with procedures for peer editing. Consisted of the following: stopping half-way through, to check our grammar and spelling for mistakes, reading it aloud to check for anything that may sound awkward, and fixing those mistakes.

We had also started an assignment that is called Digital Driver's License: The website itself tells you about how online citizen's should act.

It means that it is testing us on what we have learned, through our notes and Animotos.

Digital Driver's License covers things similar to: cyber bulling, spamming, hacking, and just plain trolling.

So, it really just helps you become a better person online, and there is really not anything negative about this digital component.

Stems, grammar quiz, and a test. Were just a few of the things that we've recently gone about doing.

With Stems, we have been slowly going over all of them and we will test on them next week.
This week though, the words have become more complex. One of them for example is: Pseudo.

With grammar, came our sentences. Which we had a test on the 19th.

Now, with the quiz  they were nothing more than little ones found on the Internet about phishing.

If you don't know what phishing is here you go: Phishing is when people, spammers, send you misleading e-mails, and try to steal your personal account information from them.
So, people who Phish are the telemarketers of the internet. They e-mail you once, then you never hear from them again in a lot of cases.

You have to be really cautious and observant, when receiving an e-mail from someone you don't know.

By checking the page URL, grammar, and graphics.
You can find out whether or not it is a phish.

This photo is a screen shot of a phishing attempt on Flickr, available at:http://www.flickr.com/photos/quox/412343985/, photo was posted: March 6th 2007.

Lastly, the test took up the entire period one day. It was all about our grammar sentences and punctuation.
It was quite difficult. I will not lie, but since our teacher Ms. Payseur is kind. She is said: 'That we will do corrections.'

The corrections consisted of us writing down the question, the correct answer, and why we think that, that is the correct answer.

There was another thing that we did as a class, and it was us learning about our online and public reputation.

Reputation: A general view of what others see you as, and how they see you. This includes the public.

With that, we had to create and edit two photos. One that would give someone a bad reputation, and the other a good reputation.
Photo of an L cosplayer on a magazine cover. available on Photobucket, photo created 9/21/12
Image editing software used was both Photobucket, and Magmypic.
The photo above shows how someone, could give another a positive reputation using photos.
Because, if someone saw that you were published in a positive magazine, they would probably chose you over a person with lesser merits.
Photo of an L cosplayer,  photo available on Photobucket, created 9/20/12. Image editing software used was Photobucket.

In this photo, the photo above shows how someone, could be giving another a negative reputation.

By first looking at the photo, you would see the words: 'Death Note'. Which to a person who knows nothing about the one in the photo. One could assume, that he is suicidal, or that he is creating a hit list of some kind.

Which could either land him in therapy or jail.

Another thing regarding the photo's that we had learned about was Persist.

Persist: To continue on, or endure.

Persistence, has to do with these photos.

For a reason like: If it were somehow to become a internet meme, and it were bad. People all over the world would be able to see it, and it turns out that negative things stay popular longer.

Then, there is context.

Context: Different factors that surround information that help determine it's meaning.

For example, let's take the unedited photo above.

If you didn't know what was going on, or who the person is. You would most likely assume that it is something illegal, or what he had been doing was something that could become illegal.

Lastly, there is tag.

Tag: Labels; words that are key to what describes a photo or video.

For another example, you would want to take the second edited photo above; the negative one.

With that the caption reads: 'Death note, picking off the human population one at a time.'
that is the caption of the photo.

With the photo editing tools in general. I'm actually quite satisfied with them; I mean, I edit photos on a regular basis.
Photoshop, GIMP, and Photobucket. Are the things that I normally use and now that I have a whole list of free ones. I'm just ecstatic, but then there are the trolls that may use these things to use exact their revenge on people.

So, they would use their new found skills, to give someone a negative online reputation.

With that being said, this will really help me out, outside of school; Since I make book covers  for my books on Wattpad, and with the digital literacy component, I now can think twice before responding to a flame review.

Auto-piloting Cars

1. Auto-piloting cars

2.  You won't need a driver's license by 2040

3. CNN

4. In this article, you find that people from major car companies. Are expecting cars to become ' robo-cars ', and self-automated. With cars becoming self-automated, things will be made and others left unused.
5. Now my view on this article: Is that it is ridiculous for one thing, I may not be alive by the time that this happens, and if I am I won't be able to drive.

So it shows no real importance to me, but if I can' t drive. Then I believe that it would be beneficial and to tell the truth, I think that it would be interesting to see how they go about making something similar to this... but other than that, it effects me in no way.

6. This event effects the world, since just about anywhere, and almost everywhere you can find a car. Even in  third world countries, the wealthy would most likely have an automobile of some kind. So, that coming up with a self-automated robo-car.

Would probably change how we live, and go about our daily lives. I mean, what's next Hover-crafts? So one advancement like this, could be completely life changing. So, that's how this event changes the world.

2nd week of September

September  10th

Today in class we took some notes, and learned to diagram a sentence! Fun? Nope!

Yeah, not fun... On any level. It is confusing and to tell the truth, quite annoying.

Now, as you can tell. I have very strong views on this particular subject this week.

Yep, Don't like it, but now it is putting a damper on my mood. So let's change the subject, shall we?
Our blogs! Since we still are blogging.

Ms. Payseur decided since we ended up having short classes last Friday, that we would finish our blogs today, but since I had finished mine last Thursday, I really had nothing to do until we moved on.

As we have been doing, we commented and posted constructive criticism on our partners blogs.

Do you remember how I spoke about my post, sounding like a flame?
I know for a fact, hat mine did not this time. Even, if it did, I had rights to flame that post. For one: it had a paragraph long run-on sentence.

This is horrid! What are you? A bloody child? Was what my first reaction had been.(yes, that is my British typing accent.)

I mean, overall it wasn't that awful. I just just quite curious, on how some of my readers reactions would be. If I were to type in a British accent; But to return on topic, mainly it's just that it was not as, awful as most have been, but it was still quite lengthy.

Another thing, is that my partner never subscribed to my blog. (as far as my knowledge goes)

September 11th

Now, I was absent for Ms. Payseur's class today, so I can at least tell you, what I had done up to that point.

So my school day (since you all must be so interested) began around 8:15, and ended half-way through second period.

So my first period class was my college class, and we did not do much.

What we did consisted of the following: Reviewing our grades; Since some of us have yet to know others names, we did a little introduction.

Which stated our interests and a few things that we are looking forward to, and that's about it for that class.

Now my next class History; Man, that sure was something. Honestly I'm just surprised that I had not fallen asleep during it.
We spent as far as I know, the entire time watching a video on nine/eleven, and taking notes on it.

But then right when it started to gain my interest. (Note my sarcasm)
I had to leave... Dang, You won't believe how 'disappointed I was'.

There you now know what I had done on nine/eleven.

Since, this is relatively short. I believe I should tell you about my writing, since it is a big part of my life.

As you all probably know, I do write as a hobby, and I have recently came across a *plotbunny that refuses to leave my mind.

This happens to be a fan fiction regarding the Japanese anime and manga Death Note.

A photo of  L from the anime/manga Death Note, available at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/arenarena/4590518774/
photo was published online: May 9th, 2010.

That concludes the section for nine/eleven.

Some definitions that you most likely do not know.
*- Plotbunny- A plotbunny is what writers online, call ideas that they have, that are distracting from works that they are already writing.

 September 12th-13th

Today, we ventured into the wonderful world of animoto!

Yes, animoto. I can honestly say that it was pretty fun!
We, made a video about online citizenship, which you know is a pretty big deal.

See? That above is my wonderful video; Don't you believe that it is quite amazing?

Now do you remember how I hated on Prezi? Well, this is much easier to use.

The only other thing that we did, was our current event. Which as it was last week, is available on this blog in the archives.

That concludes what happened, within the time span of two days.

September 14th

Since, I have been reluctant to give a summery of what my Friday's have been like, I believe it would be interesting to at least do it once.

So we did something different in our first period class; Which was not a college class today, and that was explore the Gaston College Campus Library. If you would like to know more about it, just click the hyperlink.

Since the rest of my day was relatively normal, and most of what we had learned was of minor importance.

Until next week.

Thursday's Current Events: September 13th!

1.Facebook

2.Zuckerberg: No Facebook phone in the works, but new products coming

3.CNN

4. The article over all, is about Facebook. They’ve recently been ‘quite’. There had been talk of a Facebook phone coming out. But in this article you find out that that is not true.

5.Okay, so I think that this is completely useless. For one, I have an very old phone so I don’t care for a new one. Or any product that Facebook comes out with.

Cause quite frankly it’s a waste of time and money. This event effects me in now way what so ever, and it will probably stay that way.

6. This event effects the world because of the fact, that Facebook is a world-wide online socializing system. So now that Facebook said that it’s not coming out with a phone. Instead new version of the iPhone app.

People will have more features, that they didn’t have access to before.

The fact, that the stocks on Facebook have seemingly gone down. Are yet another main reason why this event impacts the world.

Since Facebook is so popular, people would think that investing in it, would be a good idea. Now that they've gone down. Someone's ideas on that will most likely change, and bringing me to the point of which it will impact all, who have resources connected to Facebook financially.

The First Week of September!

September 5th 2012

Today, we did as much as the other classes would do, take notes; Shocker! I know right?!

Well yeah, We had also reviewed our stems for the week.

Now, most of you probably do not know what stems are. So just to be kind, I will tell you.

Stems: Usually prefixes, suffixes and root words that we memorize as vocabulary words.

Yes, our teacher is amazing... I mean hey, some teachers will just throw your words at you, tell you to memorize them, and know what all of them mean in about two days.

But Ms. Payseur is not like that, because she is amazing!!!! (Do I use that word too much?)

Now back to what we did!

We did some peer editing! Which if you don't know, is when our teacher randomly selects two or in some cases three people to group up and edit each others blogs.

Well not really edit, more like constructive criticism; But nice. Not like flamming or anything...
But to be honest I'm positive that mine sounded like a flame, since I pointed out all these grammatical errors.... but I'm a 'Grammar Nazi' as people call it.

The thing is, I can spot other people's errors. Just not my own... weird huh?

Well anyways, I feel like demonstrating my amazing intellectual abilities by using some of the words, or 'stems' in sentences.

Nah, I change my mind I think I'm going to use a few words in ways that all of us who play ' *MMORPG, **LARP, ***RPGS' can understand.

So apparently the phrase that we know all too well '****n00b, or noob' is derived from a real word, and that word is: Neophyte!

Honestly, when our teacher asked what we thought the word meant, I was thinking: What is this mess? Is that supposed to be some fancy rock or something?

So we can now pretty much come to the conclusion, that my mind works in strange ways....

Now, I can also say that there are not many things to hate on this time.

Because you all know how I totally hated on Prezi, and copyright. (See it's only one word! Got it right this time!)

Nor are there many things for me to praise, since school is just blah.

________________________________________________________________________________
Definitions of nerdy words that you may, or may not know.
*- MMORPG: A MMORPG is short for Massively Multi-player Online Role-Playing Game(s).
**-LARP: LARP or LARPing, is short for Live Action Role-Playing.
***-RPG: Is short for  Role-Playing Game.
****- N00b: Is a common term on the Internet for those who are 'newbies' or are new to something. Whether it be a website, or video game.

Now here are some pictures!!!!!
Note, the pictures of the cosplays (Or the pictures of people dressing up.) do not belong to me in anyway!

Photo of Jennifer Watts cosplaying 'Poison Ivy from Batman'. The cosplay was also made by Jennifer herself, taken in Orlando, Florida. The Photo was taken by: Wayne Warsden, Photo is not available to the public without permission from Jennifer, and it was used on September 5th 2012.
*Please note that Jennifer asked me to link her name to her YouTube, where some videos and tutorials on cosplays can be found. Also the second and third time her name is used, I linked it to her DeviantArt Page where her photo can also be found, and please note that I obtained this photo by both her and Mr.Warsden's permission.

Now that the credits are out of the way, The picture above would be an example of what someone would do when LARPing. That meaning, that they would dress up as the character that they would want to LARP.

September 9th 2012

Today in class we learned more about grammar. Yeah, sounds fun? No!

Just no... But I did learn some things... Some of them boring.. Well a lot of them boring, but still. Some day in life I'm probably going to have to use this.... Just not at this moment.

Wait.... I do write, so maybe it will be useful; Now I think about it, I really pity my *BETA.

Well if I had one, I would pity them... but yeah, I don't.

So yes, more about grammar.

Now after that, we posted a current event. Which can be found through my blog on the side in the archives. Yeah, its not much... but whatever.

Well most people worked on them in class, but like the smart person I am. I did mine the 5th. See? Always thinking ahead.

Oh! We also learned about e-mail etiquette... Yes, apparently there is a special way in which you are to e-mail.

But what I think of that? It is a bunch of crap.

Why? Because it's freaking e-mail! That's what texting and calling is for.

Pssh, I'm not going to waste the amazing invention that Alexander Grambell invented for e-mail!

But, in some cases... e-mail is useful.

In my case, I have a friend who lives overseas, and when I say overseas I mean... Middle-East.

Now, don't start hating. Because, she lives way down south in Oman or Yemen, and for future reference... because I'll probably be mentioning her a lot; She used to live in England and is my 'twin'.

Yes, her and I are so alike we call each other twin, twinnie, etc.

But....... Yep, e-mailing her is about all learning etiquette is useful for, and even then she just wouldn't care.

That now concludes what we did today.

Now, are there any ways that I can demonstrate what we've done in class? Kinda, I can randomly put some sentences down... and add amazing pictures that relate to them.

Yeah, I'm just going to do that.

Examples:

Link took a fighting stance before the monster.

Photo of Link from Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess, available at http://www.flickr.com/photos/14200314@N02/1738268039/sizes/m/in/photostream/ , Date: October 24th 2010.

Um, now that is the only example that I will give. Only because I am being lazy today.

Um, and now that I think about it. We had also learned about Google Reader..... Yeah, that was boring too, but a little useful as well.

Now time for the hating, and lovin'!

I honestly thought that learning about e-mail etiquette was a waste of time,  but the last part of it, which was about spam and stuff was interesting.... But that's it.

Today, there is nothing for me to love on... Sorry.

Until next time... or week.

Useful definitions of words you probably didn't know

*BETA- BETA or beta reader, is a term used on multiple writing websites. This term is about the person whom the writer has edit their work. Beta's usually work for free, and WANT to edit your work.
